Many of you have followed my journey for years, but there are a few new faces here. Because of this, I thought it’d revisit a few things in this post to clear some things up and address questions I’ve been getting recently. ⠀ ⠀ Social media has ended up with a surfeit of anglers that excel in networking- going out on charters, established guides, photo shoots with brands that get the on the best fish in the country- all resulting in HIGHLY decorated social media accounts. NOTE- there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that... that just wasn’t ever my agenda. ⠀ ⠀ I didn’t want to be another Instagram girl holding a big fish, because now days, that doesn’t hold much weight. ⠀ ⠀ I knew that wouldn’t change the perception of what a “female angler” is. And changing a perception of that magnitude doesn’t happen overnight. Internet fame can happen overnight but changing that perception doesn’t. It takes time and it takes work. It’s a long, hard road full of set backs and being over looked because while you’re out grinding, others are reaping short term benefits from someone else’s work. ⠀ ⠀ Every. Single. Thing. You see on my page is my OWN. From finding my fish in my tournaments to embarking on solo trips chasing elusive river musky to alpine reservoir tigers. Not all of my photos are perfect or contain trophies - but they are mine. ⠀ ⠀ Again, we need all kinds of anglers and personalities in this world to help it be successful. I just wanted to share a little bit of who I am and what my goals are, because transparency and honesty are invaluable. ⠀ ⠀ I appreciate the overwhelming support of those who know me personally, and those who have started following me here as I’ve continued to push against the norm- it’s only getting started. ⠀ ⠀ #stereotypesdontapplytoher
