They're obsessive and too into their looks, and I don't want to be like that." . Is that story true for some fitness people? Sure. But it's a gross over-exaggeration of the truth. Be careful. Not everyone's like that. Fitness is about personal development and living a better, healthier quality of life. And remember, you will never pursue something you allow yourself to subconsciously dislike. . 2) "I have bad genetics. I'm big boned and no matter how hard I work, I never seem to get anywhere. My entire family is out of shape and that's just the way it is for me." . Again, are there people out there who have a harder time getting in shape than others? Of course. But that doesn't change the fact than ANYONE can be better tomorrow than they are today. Let others motivate you, but don't compare your results to theirs. Focus on doing whatever you can to make your own steady progress, and don't allow a limiting story about genetics to hold you back any longer. . 3) "I don't have time to work out. I'm incredibly busy. I have a career and a family, and I just can't squeeze any extra time out for fitness right now. I'll do it when (insert future ideal circumstance that never comes)." . This is the worst story of all. I can tell you from experience that I've met some of the most hardworking, busy individuals in the world who still find time to work out.
